Located 3 hours away from Bogotá, in-between the Andes and the plains, you find Acacías. With the hot climate and many rivers, Acacías is a popular vacation spot for many Colombians but is still unknown for most foreigners due to conflicts and bad infrastructure in the past.
THE JOB
What you will do depends on your skills, our situation and the length of your stay. We recommend you to commit for a while to immerse fully in the language and culture, and also to build a connection with your students and to really learn how to teach English as a second language. Types of Volunteering
Volunteers either work 3, 4 or 5 hours each day Monday to Friday. In return for 3 hours work, volunteers receive only accommodation, for 4 hours breakfast is included too and for 5 hours breakfast & lunch. Work isn’t always available for everyone to do more than the necessary 3 hours per day, so priority will be given to longer-term volunteers to do extra hours in return for food.
Long Time Volunteering
• Avalible for 2 months or more (the longer, the better)
• Given priority to spend most of the working time teaching
• Priority to work more in return for meals to make their stay cheaper
• Priority for individual rooms/sharing with one other person, including a Private Bathroom. – although this isn’t guaranteed, it depends on availability.
• Laundry and Housekeeping Service once a week
• Letter of Reference for Volunteering and for talking Spanish Classes (if needed)
• Other benefits can be discussed on arrival depending on the length of time you commit to
Short Time Volunteering
• Available for 1 month or more.
• Will likely be doing other work too besides teaching i.e. hotel maintenance, garden projects etc.
• Shared accommodation with up to 3 other volunteers. Private Bathroom.
• Laundry and Housekeeping Service once a week
• Your tasks will depend on your skills and our needs
*If working 15 hours a week
Volunteering here was amazing. No matter your skills and interests you will always be catered for. Teaching was a great new experience and an excellent way to learn more about local culture and build friendships (my student and I exchanged meals every lesson!). There is plenty to see and explore in the surrounding area.
